About

Lauren Ryan is a contemporary jeweller and metalsmith based in Brisbane, Australia. Her work explores nostalgia, memory and body-object relationships through statement pieces that push the boundaries of wearability.

Lauren is concerned with exploring new materials and unconventional approaches in contemporary jewellery making. She is also conscious of maintaining an ethical practice by sourcing renewable, recycled or fair trade materials for her work.

In 2014 Lauren completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at the Queensland College of Art, majoring in Jewellery and Small Objects. Her degree took her overseas twice on exchange. In 2013 she studied a Bachelor of Fine Art and Art History at The University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom. In 2014 she completed a two week community inernship in the remote village of Gokanosho in Kyoto, Japan. Both experiences inspired bodies of work in Lauren's final year of study.

Currently Lauren is completing an honours year at the Queensland College of Art and is an active member of the Rivet Collective, appearing at various markets around Brisbane.
